Obituary for Donna M. Hitt
Sixty five year old Donna Marie Hitt, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on April 9th 2018. Not by coincidence but God ordained on the same date as her once spouse Frank Hitt April 9th 2017, exactly one year apart. She died in Sun City Center, FL at Lifepath hospice after a 6 month battle to stage 4 lymphoma.
Donna was born in Elizabeth, NJ to parents who were named Edna Laskow and Joseph Laskow. She had three siblings Joseph, Susan, and Carol. Donna was the eldest of her siblings and the care taker, she had a love for animals, especially horses. In fact, she did not buy a car when she was able to drive, she bought horse to get her around. She met her husband in Atlanta, GA and was married in Freehold, NJ in 1975. They lived in Atlanta, GA and Houston, Texas where her first son Derrick was born and then moved back to New Jersey where her daughter Ashley was born. Donna was a deacon in the church for many years at Freedom in Christ church in Hackettstown, NJ. She also served on the worship team with her gift of songs. Donna loved life, had a laugh that was contagious, and a hug that could warm any heart. She inspired all those who knew her and she gave so much of herself to others. She helped many through prayer and counsel get through their toughest times in life and loved God with all she had. Her hobbies included playing cards, dominoes, bicycling, and sewing. She donated to many charities and tithed diligently to the church. She was not working in her last few years of life, but did work at Callaremi Cadillac in New Jersey, Edible arrangements, and also Paragon Village, both also located in New Jersey. She moved to Florida with her daughter in 2011 and settled down to retire.
She left behind her mother Edna age 87, her son Derrick age 37, her daughter Ashley age 34 and Ashley’s husband, her son in law, Robert age 39, along with her three siblings Carol, Joe, and Sue. She also left behind three grandchildren, Destiny age 14, Brayden age 9, and Colton age 5 all belonging to her daughter Ashley. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and was with her family often. She took care of her mother Edna as well as her grandchildren when needed. There aren’t enough words to express who she was, but I can say that she was a remarkable person, a legendary woman, and so full of love, life, and joy that it poured out of her eyes into your soul. She didn’t want a funeral or a wake, she chose to be cremated and she wanted a life celebration to be held in her name. Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though we are dead, yet shall he live John 11:25.
